Ian is highly regarded in coaching people within organizations and on a personal level. His inspiration and purpose come from personal convictions about building quality and purpose in working life.
Ian has won awards for service delivery in business excellence, and assessor of the year for the international people management standard, Investors in People, for whom he is an international assessor. He is qualified in people management, coaching and business excellence, which places him well as a business mentor. He also works as a volunteer prison chaplain, with a dedication for re-building lives and reducing re-offending through a specific personal leadership program he has authored in Manhood, Marriage and Fatherhood.
Ian works in a wide range of organizational and leadership development roles both within government and commercial organizations, and has a passion for making a difference to results at every level. He has notched up 30 years experience, latterly at board level. His international experience is mainly Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand.
From a range of perspectives he delivers coaching and consultancy for extraordinary… Results, and is passionate about improving the quality of contribution that people can make in the organizations they work, and also the contributions organizations can make to their people. His approach to leadership is aligned with world-renowned Professor John Adair, and Ian is a personal representative for John’s action-centred leadership approach, books and programs.
Originally from the industrial heartlands of England, he is now based in New Zealand and owns two businesses involved in developing people, with a particular passion for leadership development and coaching. He also continues to assess and advise with the Investors in People international quality standard, and advises on business excellence.
In Kairology, Ian’s first book, he has brought together a unique and broad range of coaching and leadership ideas, concepts and models in a simple and straightforward way, so that the tools in the book, and matching coaching program, are equally suitable for personal and corporate use. His objective was to create something more than just another book, something more accessible and practical. Primarily his writing is about creating space for people to take stock and understand themselves better, and to work towards their own goals, aspirations and possibilities.
His passions are leadership, people and organization development, about which he writes, speaks, and consults. Ian is an engaging speaker who creates space for people to learn easily how to become who they really are and all that they can be.
