KAIROLOGY® MANHOOD PROGRAMME

Manhood, Marriage and Fatherhood - for men in prison by Ian Willaims

What does this have to do with leadership?

Well at Kairos we are passionate about improving leadership at all levels. With this in mind time is given voluntarily to promoting good personal leadership among men in prison. The purpose for this is to make possible a better quality of thinking and life to these men, and in turn to their families. We also aim to reduce re-offending by making this contribution.

With the assistance of a long-term prisoner, Ian has written the Kairology® Manhood Programme. This has been successfully implemented in many New Zealand prisons, with the support of the Prison Fellowship, the Chaplaincy Service, and the Department of Corrections. We continue to train, license and supervise volunteers to run the programme.

Most men in prison have a desire to better understand manhood, and to be a better man for themselves and their loved ones. Without really understanding manhood, it is impossible to look further at the essential roles of man in marriage and fatherhood, so this programme is designed to fit these three needs together.

This chaplaincy programme is designed and written, based on Christian principles and teaching, with a focus on God’s design for manhood and maleness, for coming together with a woman in marriage, and raising children in a stable home.

OVERALL AIM

To enable the prisoner to review and understand his own view of manhood and to compare this to a positive biblically-based model and principles, so that he can make and maintain changes within himself and in relation to others, especially wife and children.
